Leadership for Reproductive Health
(The Most Active Cohort of the Professionals)
District Khairpur
Activated By: LEAD PAKISTAN

Pakistan’s health indicators are discouraging and with the current rate of progress, health related Millennium Development Goals are nowhere near achievement. In order to address the existing gaps in our country’s health sector, Lead Pakistan is implementing a two year project titled “Enabling Effective Leadership for Reproductive Health” in collaboration with the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. The project aims to create a model of leadership development and facilitation in two districts of Pakistan, namely Khairpur, Sindh and Lodhran, Punjab.

The overall objectives of the project are to:

Evolve and deliver a replicable, practical and sustainable training model for district leadership development in RH,
Create and enable a network of district-based leaders for local RH improvement, and
Demonstrate enhanced multi-sctoral, local leadership capacity.

In order to achieve these objectives, LEAD Pakistan has trained 17 mid-career professionals belonging to diverse backgrounds and area of expertise from both the districts. The training curriculum has been developed after a rigorous consultative process including leading health experts from Pakistan. The curriculum aims at introducing the target audience to the real concept of reproductive health and interrelated concepts, incorporating leadership, strategic planning, management and monitoring skills among them and enhancing their communication skills.

These trainings are envisioned to facilitate the target audience to undertake a number of activities for the cause of reproductive health in their respective districts. These include reaching to the masses through print media, conducting roll out trainings for raising awareness and most importantly, developing policy briefs in order to influence health policies at district level.
